Bodhran Player Extrordinaire and good friend Rolf Wagels is auctioning His Prototype RWE Bodhran on ebay and donating the proceeds to Casa Alianza to help the street kids of South America.
“I want to auction off this unique prototype (available only once on our planet!) for a good cause at ebay. It took me a while to figure out where the money should go to, but when I heard the CD “Celtic Connections”” by my long time friend Ian Smith, singer/songwriter from Donegal, Ireland the decision was made easy: The CD contains a song by Ian called “Pablo’s Eyes”, and it’s about the “street kids” in South America. All proceeds from this song go to Casa Alianza (South America Division) and the proceeds from the this auction will go to Casa Alianza as well:
Through Ian Smith’s activities we have a direct connection to Peggy Healy Senior Vice President – Latin America, where all the proceeds will go to.”
“Together with Christian Hedwitschak I developed the drum of my dreams, Christian decided to call it the RWE (Rolf Wagels Edition). We import Lambeg skins with the help of Seamus O’Kane, the drummaker from the North from the makers who supply Seamus. The tuning system uses an idea by Robert Forkner from Texas (Metloef drums) who developed a toolless tuning system, which we adopted and modified.”
This is unique opportunity to Own a truly excellent instrument and spread a little love at the same time.
The winner of the Auction will recieve;
1. RWE prototype black/red tuning rim
2. A tipper of choice from the shop at bodhran-info
3. A Celtic Connections CD
Big Thanks to Rolf for his generosity and to all who show they’re support in this fine cause.
